We Gather: To Worship
• Blaine Boyd • Series: Mini-Series: We Gather
Pastor Blaine Boyd kicks off our 4-week Mini-Series about the WHY behind the WAY we gather as a church. In this sermon, he preaches a general overview on why we gather TO WORSHIP. Revelation 7:9-12 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Main Idea: We Gather to Worship for God’s Glory and Our Growth I. God Desires Us to Gather Together for Worship II. God Designed Us to Grow Together through Worship What is worship? Our expression of treasuring something (God) above all else. - Individual expressions of worship vs. corporate expressions of worship. It's not an either/or, it's a both/and. - Gathering together for corporate worship is a biblical expectation. - Gathering together for corporate worship is a biblical command. - Gathering together for corporate worship is a biblical pattern. Reflection/Discussion Questions: How do I come on Sundays? Do I expect God to use me? Do I intentionally come to build up my brothers and sisters at DBC through encouraging, admonishing, ministering to, praying with, etc.? How can I be a part of what God is doing in this church body?
